Several years ago, a certain software developer released a game called Achilles. It featured that exact character in Troy, where the famous Trojan horse story took place.
It’s still a great title today, but it does look dated. That is one of the reasons we were delighted to see the new Achilles Deluxe slot game release announced. We have checked it out, so if you haven’t played it before, read the remainder of our report to find out what we thought of it.

We always approve of having demo access, and we certainly get that here. RTG has a demo that matches the real thing, except it has no real wagers to place on it, of course.
The theme sets up a return to Troy
The theme is identical to the first slot game, giving more evidence that this is indeed a deluxe version rather than a strict sequel. You’ll spot Helen appearing on the reels here as well.
A marked improvement on the design
We’d be surprised if the design hadn’t made a huge improvement on the original Achilles slot. Fortunately, the graphics have been dragged into the 21st century, offering a sparkling game that has much sharper features than the first one.
How to play the Achilles Deluxe slot
We get five reels to spin and those each have three icons on them. Nothing too complicated thus far. The game also presents players with two progressive jackpots, each of which triggers randomly during the game. Of course, you must use real wagers to be in with a chance of getting any progressive wins here.
The wild is shown as a W within a disc, while the scatter is easy to see, as they’ve used the game logo.

There are 20, shown in the paytable.
Cover all the lines with a reasonable wager
The game is officially a penny slot, although of course if you want to cover all 20 lines, it’s going to cost you 20 cents to make it happen.
One long paytable here
You’ve seen other Realtime Gaming titles with multiple pages for their paytables, right? It’s different here, with one long one in place instead. It means you need to be careful when scrolling, as we ended up moving the entire screen rather than just the paytable at times. It does give you all the facts you need about the game though.
Bonuses don’t factor into this game
There isn’t anything else to say about that.
Achilles Deluxe free spins
You’ve got two versions of this round to make up for a lack of bonuses. Finding three scatters is good enough to bring you 10 free games at 2x multiplier. There is a retrigger here too, although you’ve got two ways to earn extra games. Three scatters are ideal but finding just two along with one wild will do the job as well.
Next up, you can get some free spins from three wilds appearing on the same spin of the base game. If this occurs, choose one of the wilds to discover your prize. It will be 15, 20, or 25 free games in this instance, so this is the better version of the spins. It also carries a bigger multiplier worth 3x for anything won.
The wilds cannot substitute for scatter symbols when you’re playing the base game, but if you reach this free spin version, the wilds stand in for everything – scatters included.
No idea of the RTP
And that is not unusual for a Realtime Gaming slot, as you may already know.

Is this going to earn a top score from us? Not the absolute top score of 10/10, but we are going to give it 8/10. We love the focus on the free games, especially as there are different features involved.
Any news of progressive prize winners yet?
Not at the time of writing, but we may learn something soon. With a random trigger for a jackpot, it could drop now or in many weeks from now… no one can tell.
